<27>

Last Saturday I turned 27.

Usually I write some big epic essay on my birthday where I reflect on the ups and downs of the year and what I’ve learned.  Not so much for you, the reader, but for me to be able to put into words how I’ve grown.  If we don’t acknowledge growth I think we will stifle it.

This year’s lesson was pretty simple and straightforward.  Here it is: I do not exist for me.  I’ve tried existing for me.  I tried pursuing the things that made me happy.  It was awful.  For 27 years I’ve fought this battle - trying to make myself happy…nothing.

About 6 months ago, Jesus whispered in my ear that I had it all wrong.  He told me that the Christian life is all about forsaking myself and glorifying Him.  A Piper quote totally rocked my world.  It went something like “God is most glorified when we are most satisfied in Him.”

WORD.

This year I’ve learned that life is loving God, and loving people.  All else hangs on these 2 principles.

Thank you Jesus for another year of life.  May You be the most glorified in year 27.
